Private Joseph W. Beal

Pvt Joseph W. Beal enlisted in 1861 and was paroled 1865 in New Orleans. Pvt Beal was in the 2nd Field Battery, Missouri Light Artillery. This may also have been known as Collin's Battery B. The 2nd Field Battery participated in all the major western battles including the 1864 Red River campaign.
The only thing known about him post-CW is that he along with his daughter traveled by wagon from Missouri to Montana in the 1870s apparently to escape Reconstruction. Joseph Beal's daughter is a gg grandmother of Mike Bilbo who is a member of Brig Gen Henry Hopkins Sibley, Camp 2075, Albuquerque, NM.
