Private Joseph Thompson Ezell

Joseph Thompson Ezell was born January 28, 1822 in Georgia. He enlisted as a private in Company I, 25th Alabama Infantry, CSA in Dec 1961 or early 1862 in DeKolb County, AL. He and a number of relatives were from Oak Level, AL. The 25th AL Infantry was organized from McCLellan's 6th Al Infantry and the 1st AL Battalion. Company I was organized at Oak Level, AL then Calhoun now Cleburne County in July 1861 with Matthew Alexander as Captain, W.P. Howell as1st Lt., Lie Adams as 2nd Lt. and James L. Roberts as 3rd Lt.

Pvt Ezell was wounded at the Battle of Murfressboro, 12/31/1862 and again at Missionary Ridge where he was shot and lost one eye and partial sight in the other.

Joseph T. Ezell died July 1,1891 in Calhoun County, Alabama.

Private Joseph T. Ezell is a GGG grandfather of Compatriot Jerry Tolbert, Rebels on the Rio Grande, Camp 1826, Las Cruces, NM.
