• On Sun, 4/27/2008 The NMSCV's 1st Brigade consisting of Camps 1385, 2033, 2075 and the NM UDC supported by Co C, 4th Texas Volunteers commemorated Confederate Memorial Day at the Santa Fe National Cemetery -- to view a few images -- click here.
• On Thu, 9/27/2007 the Pecos National Historical Park released the design for greatly improving the site on the Glorieta Battlefield where the Texas UDC & Colorado memorials are located. The TXUDC memorial was dedicated in 1939 and is situated adjacent to NM state highway 50 and a few miles west of Pecos, NM. The first image below shows the TXUDC memorial with TXUDC president Vickie Knuth (center) and associates. President Knuth and associates visited the Glorieta Battlefield during early June 2007 as guests of the NMSCV Division.
The second image below shows the location of the TXUDC memorial (left, next to rock ledge)) and the Colorado memorial (right of TXUDC memorial) with parking & information sign improvements to be made to the site. These improvements will significantly enhance the safety, convenience and knowledge of visitors to the memorial site.

• On Sat, 8/4/2007 members of the 1st Brigade participated in a living history event at the Glorieta Conference Center in Glorieta, NM. Members from Camps 2033 & 2075 participated as reenactors. Included in the program was a presentation of the Confederate Army of NM. The image below shows George Bailey, Steven Jennings & Dave Lavandoski providing drill instruction to some young recruits. These NMSCV members who are also members of Co C, 4th TX Vols.

• On Sat, 8/11/2007 members of the 1st & 2nd Brigades participated in a living history event at the Fort Stanton State Monument. Members from five of the NMSCV camps participated as reenactors. The image below shows these NMSCV members who are also members of Co C, 4th TX Vols.
• In early June 2007, the NMSCV's 1st Brigade hosted Ms. Vickie Knuth, president of the TX UDC Division, and associates who were visiting NM Civil War historical sites including both the Valverde & Glorieta battlefields -- to view images of the visit -- click here.

• On Sun, Feb 26, 2006, at the annual NM SCV Division conference meeting, held in Socorro, NM, Jim Red was re-elected as Division commander for an additional two years. At the meeting Jim presented Charles Mandevill a check for $400 to pay for a barbecue for all reenactors who participated in the Battle for Socorro Civil War reenactment and living history event. Charles is the key man for organizing the event and the event kick starts the annual Civil War reenacting events in New Mexico.
• On Sat, Jan 7, 2006, Army of the Trans-Mississippi (ATM) commander, Charles Rand, was hosted by Jim Red, NM SCV commander. Jim Red and NM SCV camp commanders Pappy (Camp 2033) and Dave Lavandoski (Camp 2075) briefed Cdr Rand on NM SCV Division and camp activities, respectively. In turn, Cdr Rand briefed regarding ATM initiatives including plans to provide electronic-version of the ATM newsletter.
• On Tue, Dec 13, 2005, NMSCV division commander, Jim Red, and 1st brigade commander, Hugh Formhals, along with representatives of the Socorro field office of the US Bureau of Land Management (USBLM), state of NM Dept of Cultural Affairs, et. al. met with the Honorable John Garcia, NM State Cabinet Secretary of Veterans' Services. The principal purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential NM state funding of monuments to be emplaced at both the Glorieta Battlefield and Fort Craig -- at both of these sites key battles occurred that determined the course of the Civil War in the far western territories of the US. During the course of the meeting the Honorable John Garcia commented that a need exists to communicate the activities of NM private organizations regarding NM military history and veteran interests from the early Spanish era to the present. Such communication would assist the Honorable John Garcia to better represent veteran interests to the governor and the legislature. The NMSCV suggested that a state-wide conference, endorsed by the NM State Cabinet Secretary of Veterans' Services, occur in early 2006 to bring together veterans' groups, reenacting groups, historical organizations, etc. with the goal of establishing an advisory committee representing these groups to communicate in a coordinated manner these interests to the NM State Cabinet Secretary of Veterans' Services. The NMSCV division agreed to draft a letter -- to be signed by all interested NM military history and veteran interests -- asking the NM State Cabinet Secretary of Veterans' Services to host aforementioned conference.
• On Tue, Oct 18, 2005 members of the NM SCV 1st Brigade consisting of NM SCV camps 1385, 2033, & 2075 completed the installation of a flagpole at the old Cubero cemetery where three Confederate soldiers who died during Mar-Apr 1862 are buried.
• On Sat, May 14, 2005 NM SCV Camps 1385 & 2075 supported NM SCV Camp 1826 in commemorating the site dedication of Old Fort Fillmore located in Mesilla, NM -- to view images -- click here.
• On Sun, April 24, 2005 the New Mexico Division and the NM United Daughters of the Confederacy commemorated Confederate Memorial Day.
• On Feb 27, 2005 in Socorro, NM the New Mexico Division held it's annual meeting in conjunction with the Battles for Socorro event. Particulars of the meeting are now available by clicking here.
• On 1/29/2005 Pappy, NM SCV Division chief of staff and webmaster, gave a presentation at the annual TX UDC Forum meeting in Waco, TX. The presentation focused on Gen Sibley's New Mexico campaign and TX Confederate soldiers KIA during the campaign and buried in New Mexico. • In Jan 2005 Ms. Janice Langford, president of the TX UDC Division, visited NM to inspect the TX UDC-owned monument at San Marcial, NM that commemorates Confederate soldiers KIA at the Battle of Valverde (2/21/1862). The monument erected in 1936 has suffered vandalism.
