Capt Z. I. Williams

Capt Z. I. Williams was born in North Carolina on Nov 8, 1839 and served in Company G, 23rd Georgia Infantry. He wrote of his wartime experiences -- penned in Aug 1908 and available by clicking ZIWilliams_War_Record.  In his later years he was given the honorary rank of colonel. Colonel Williams died on April 24, 1929 in San Angelo, TX and his obituary was prominently published in the San Angelo Morning newspaper and available by clicking ZIWilliams_Obit. Colonel Williams is interred in the Fairmont Cemetery, San Angelo, TX.
